Smoking A Cigar And Photographing A Sunset - June 20, 2008

Unstable Snow
Keep Off Snow!
Warnings and an artificial fence were up to keep people away from the snow. I have no idea what this is all about. My only guess is I hear numerous sirens racing up Chaffee County Road 306 toward the pass earlier in the afternoon - perhaps there was an injury related to someone getting to close to the cornice or someone having a large of hunk of snow crash on them.
Dutch Masters Cigars Cottonwood Pass Cigar I bought a package of Dutch Master cigars and smoked one while I waited for the sun to set. I think I posed more than necessary as I stood next to the sign. :p)
Cottonwood Pass Region I drove about one mile on Gunnison County Road 209 on the west side of the divide.

The tundra pool directly west of the pass is slowly but surely thawing out.

Snow
This is the spot where I parked.

I captured one photo of myself standing next to this large snow bank along the road.

Here are my other snowbank and "snow in the warm season" pages:

Colorado Sunset Then finally, the show began.

    Colorado Sunset
The sun sets behind those mountains way out there in Gunnison County.

Some lingering colors among the clouds.

Cottonwood Pass Sunset As I returned to Buena Vista, I slowed down to photograph the status of the large snow cornice, but notice some pretty pink, orange and yellow shades up there beyond the pass. Very nice! :)
