The Colorado Trail At The Avalanche Trailhead (June 24, 2006)
This morning I hiked on the Colorado Trail,
beginning at the Avalanche Trailhead inside Cottonwood Canyon. |
It's fairly steep at the beginning of the trail,
but there are some beautiful views of the canyon including the Rainbow Lake Resort. |
The trailhead is not called "Avalanche" on a whim.
As you can see, there are quite a few slides on this mountain. You can faintly see
Cottonwood Pass Road and the trailhead parking lot below. |
Heading upward, I snapped a shot of Jones Mountain peaking its head. |
There are some beautiful and tall pine trees in the area. |
Lots of dead logs on the ground. |
Now I took this trail up to the pass, approximately halfway
to North Cottonwood Creek. I snapped this shot of Mt. Yale near the top. |
