May 27, 2006 - After doing some photography on
the west side of Cottonwood Pass, I traveled to Crested Butte in Gunnison County.
That mountain is officially Crested Butte. (Photo taken at the Crested Butte Town Park.)
Confession: I do not visit Crested Butte often enough. This is a very
busy ski town in the winter months, and it's remote location gives it some mystique compared to other ski & snowboarding areas.
Adjacent Photo: The inviting historic main avenue.
The creek running through town ran really hard! The snow continues to melt in the high country.
The Crested Butte post office! :) 81224!
Photo of Whetstone Mountain (alt. 12,516), situation directly south of Crested Butte.
One more shot of Crested Butte, the mountain.
Not sure which mountain and peaks are shown, but
look at all the snow on the right! :p)
Mountain scenery outside of town.
Crested Butte has done a very good job of maintaining open space around
the town center. I was very impressed with their town planning!
