In And Around Crested Butte, Colorado (Pictures - May, 27 2006)

After doing some photography on
the west side of Cottonwood Pass Road, at Taylor Lake and the Taylor Dam, I headed over to Crested Butte. That mountain is officially Crested Butte. (Photo taken at the Crested Butte Town Park) |

I did not really do to much in town. I just walked along the main avenue, bought a couple of books and ate lunch. The historic district definitely has a homey feel! |
The creek that runs through town was running really hard! |
The Crested Butte post office! :) 81224! |
That is Whetstone Mountain (alt. 12,516), which sits directly south of Crested Butte. |
One more shot of Crested Butte, the mountain. |
I'm not exactly sure which mountain that is, but man, look at all the snow on it! :p) |
Some of the mountain scenery outside of town. |

Crested Butte has done a very good job of maintaining open space around the town center. I was very impressed with their town planning! |
