**Holywater Beaver Ponds (Cottonwood Pass Region) - September 11, 2008**
	Holywater Beaver Ponds Near the Holywater Mine area is an area known as the Holywater Beaver Ponds. It is the marshy portion of Cottonwood Creek at the parking area that is approximately one mile west of the Denny Creek Trailhead. The adjacent photo is a good shot with one of the many dams those pesky beavers have made. Jones Mountain South is the mountain in the background.
	Two more photos. I was told this is a popular area for fishing.

Mountains and An Avalanche Slide There are plenty of pretty views in this vicinity. Adjacent is the easterly view of Mt. Yale (alt. 14,197 feet) with Chaffee County Road 306 in the foreground.
On the north side of the canyon is an area that at first glance, appears to be prone to avalanches. Last winter, there was a large avalanche that made the local news and almost took the lives of snowmobilers. The bottom photo shows some of the remaining debris and bent over trees from the incident.

We are probably about 14 days away from the autumn colors really showing. However, I did my best to photograph the early colors as I wandered throughout the beaver pond area and nearby forests.
